Roya Khadjavi Projects

Roya Khadjavi Projects exhibits works by emerging Iranian artists working in Iran and diaspora. The gallery’s mission is to support these artistic endeavors and facilitate cultural dialogue between Iranian artists and their audiences internationally. Roya Khadjavi Projects also collaborate with emerging artists from other countries with similar social and political backgrounds.

Since 2014, Roya Khadjavi Projects has led numerous exhibitions including “Revisiting Fragments and Entities” (2021), “The Sprinkle of Light” (2021), “Memories, Tales and Folk Songs” (2020), “IRAN X CUBA: Beyond the Headline” (2016), and “Material Culture” (2018).

Khadjavi has been instrumental in bringing together exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum, the Asia Society, and the Morris Museum on Iranian artists.

For VOLTA New York 2022, Roya Khadjavi Projects brings together works by four contemporary Iranian artists whose works reflect personal and deeply rooted sentimental attachments to the nostalgic world of stories and memories.

Azita Moradkhani

Through this array of artworks by Parastoo Ahovan, Roxana Manouchehri, Azita Moradkhani, Motreza Pourhosseini, Safarani Sisters, and Atieh Sohrabi the exhibition portrays and examines how our memories and deeply rooted attachments to our homeland and its stories reflect and shape our personal perceptions of beauty and sentimentality and on a larger scale influence our life experiences and worldview. The artworks for this exhibition transform poetry and storytelling into visual mediums and in doing so preserve past narratives while transforming them into expressions of present day issues.
