VOLTA Basel 2025
Congress Center, Basel
Open days: 19 - 22 June
VIP Collectors Preview: 18 June

Taking place from June 19-22 and in celebration of its 20th Anniversary, VOLTA Basel announces that for its forthcoming June 2025 edition it will move to a new venue, Basel's Congress Center

VOLTA – the international art fair renowned for spotlighting emerging artists, being a springboard to market for ambitious new galleries, breaking down boundaries and amplifying voices historically overlooked – will relocate into the 4000 squared metres new space, 200m from the heart of Art Week and the central Messe in Basel.

The new venue marks a year of growth as the fair enters its 20th anniversary year. Whilst presenting an expanded fair of up to 65 galleries, VOLTA visitors will experience a fair that centres the values of connection with and discovery of galleries and artists. Developed from a legacy of fostering meaningful connections, VOLTA Basel will offer a truly unique, boutique and welcoming environment in which to explore the emerging talent of the future.

Lee Cavaliere, Artistic Director of VOLTA highlights the impact the new location will have on the fair’s atmosphere, stating:

"Connecting with art and artists really needs the right setting. Buying art is an emotional story and one that is about the people and art present there and then. For 20 years VOLTA has held the value of storytelling close to its heart. People will forever need and want this intimacy. We will always want to learn about the world around us through art and expression. I'm really excited about the growth our new space can offer our galleries and the focus we will offer visitors who come along to meet them.”

The 2025 edition of VOLTA Basel seeks to pay tribute to the city of Basel and honor the country the fair was founded in. Local residents of Basel will be invited to enjoy the fair as part of the anniversary celebrations. Lee Cavaliere highlights the bond with the city, stating:

"The fair this year will be a celebration of the relationships that have anchored VOLTA in the city through two decades of its existence. It is Basel itself that allowed us to take our place within what is perhaps the most exciting and energetic sector of the contemporary art world: the emerging art market. We are looking forward to announcing more about our local and Swiss-wide partnerships soon."

"Applications to participate in VOLTA are open now. It is always a stimulating moment in our calendar and this year is no exception. Right now, you can see this incredible energy in the VOLTA market – the emerging and mid-career space – you can see artists and galleries truly engaging with the world around us and embracing activism, using their work to tackle the tough questions of our times. This is the space in which VOLTA thrives: we are all about amplifying those bold voices that challenge, provoke, and inspire. At our upcoming fair in Basel, you can expect art that doesn’t just reflect the world—it engages with it head-on.”
