Space776 | Mariko Fujimoto. The Otherworldly Vessel.

20 October -29 October, 2024

Opening Reception: Friday, October 25, 6 - 8 PM

Curated by Shota Hachisako, in their fourth collaboration with Fujimoto at Space776, ‘The Otherworldly Vessel’ is a show that speaks to the idea of transcending human limitations.

Using the depiction of ethereal beings as vehicles to convey the divine and otherworldly, Fujimoto’s art plays between the intersections of human and spiritual. Capturing the tensions that arise through reflecting from the boundaries of human experience in comparison to cosmic.

With Hachisako’s curatorial style known for creating immersive environments through light and space, these subtle shifts in tone guide the viewer's experience and invoke potential for connection to forces greater than oneself.

Galerie Andreas Binder |Yigal Ozeri. American

6 September - 9 November

A master of the photorealistic style Yigal Ozeri captures life with uncanny accuracy. A familiar face at VOLTA, Ozeri seeks to bottle the essence of Americana in this series.

As you step into the Munich based gallery you are transported across the Atlantic in an oeuvre reminiscent of a road trip across the country.

A collection of pieces frozen in time between states, sunsets and simple moments.

Gillian Jason Gallery |Megan Baker and Eleanor Johnson. Time is Always New

3 October - 16 November

In a show which explores transformation, renewal and nature, VOLTA Basel alums Megan Baker and Eleanor Johnson, converse with Ovid’s classic poem ‘Metamorphoses’ through dreamlike forms and flowing shapes.

Together, Baker and Johnson converge with works that invite the viewer to ponder on our ever-shifting essence of existence and how transformation acts as a fundamental force in nature and our lives.

“Taking inspiration from the myths presented in Ovid's poem, I aim to stretch out these moments of transformation through the temporal qualities of paint; where painting allows me to linger, and the paint slips into its own form of renewal." - Megan Baker
