Welcome! On Thursday May 18th from 6 - 9pm we hosted our official non-profit partner Fashion Fights Cancer and the New York fashion scene for one night only.

The event began with new outfits being revealed by designers that were presented alongside the artwork that was the inspiration of this wearable work of art. These works were available to bid on during a silent auction at the event. Read below to see how each designer was inspired by the art.

ARTIST AND DESIGNER COLLABORATION

  • BRONX AND BANCO X STEVE WANNA | A splash of color and a burst of visual sound, Myths of Creation - CE230330.1430 provides the basis for Bronx and Banco’s second piece contributed to the auction. They highlight the models form with a spectral palette that feels both serendipitous and intentional. It’s a symphony of color and form that evokes an effervescence and scintillating energy that reflects Steve Wanna’s work.

  • PATRICK CUPID X PASCAL PIERME | Pascal Pierme’s 3737 Lateral Thinking 12 provides a sharp, geometric basis upon which Patrick Cupid builds. Focusing on silhouette, contrast, and shape, Cupid’s ethos of transience and impermanence takes the wearers ever-changing form and uses it to guide the viewer on the joys of fleeting, ephemeral experiences.

  • BRONX AND BANCO X GALINA KURLAT | Bronx and Banco took the evening hues in Galina Kurlat’s March 11 to create this intimate piece. Galina explores the ever-changing body and Bronx and Banco take this human form and obscures the silhouette. Yet they create windows to the vulnerable skin, from which arise a gentle dichotomy between highlighting and hiding the intimate details of the human form.

  • VIVENNE HU X JENNIFER DEPPE PARKER | Vivienne Hu takes the sharp energy of Jennifer Deppe Parker’s Burst 28 and cranks it up to 11, creating a piece that imbues the wearer with vitality, an aura that takes over the senses with the iridescent energy of the sun, of nature, and the stars above.

  • ROSIE ASSOULIN X LOGAN T.SIBREL | With deeply personal works that explore emotion – joy, beauty, fear, sadness – Logan T. Sibrel’s work Nils at a Birthday Party inspired Rosie Assoulin to explore of the human form. Color creates shape and form, but the overall silhouette is one that feels monochromatic – matching the human form with a veil that both highlights and obfuscates the wearers emotions, whatever they may be, and effortlessly melds to fit any situation.

FFC was founded to act as a sanctuary for cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. In collaboration with local communities, impactful brands, hospitals, therapists and international fashion houses, FFC seeks to empower those who have been affected by the devastating illness of cancer in any way, shape or form throughout the United States and internationally.

 

Andy Dass Live Painting at VOLTA

Artist Andy Dass will be doing a live painting on the Fashion Fights Cancer booth on the 18 May and throughout the week. Dass will be there every day painting an installation piece which will then be raffled at the end of the Fair, with proceeds going to Fashion Fights Cancer.
