SEIZAN Gallery

Since its founding in 1996, SEIZAN Gallery has played an important role in the discovery of emerging Japanese artists. Located in Tokyo and in New York City, we introduce new voices in contemporary fine art. Our artists are known for exploring adventurous new visions yet maintaining a strong connection to traditional roots.

Their works have been part of exhibitions at Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art, Tokyo, Japan and Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France. The shows have been featured in number of press publications including Hyperallergic and Hypebeast.

At VOLTA New York 2022, SEIZAN Gallery presents a solo exhibition by emerging Japanese painter Yasushi Ikejiri. The artist is interested in scenes from daily life as subject matter and a fascination with the concept of "normalcy," while working in a distinctive style and mediums.

Yasushi Ikejiri's oil paintings depict mundane scenes of Tokyo in astonishing detail and saturated color. His quiet landscapes are egoless, and invite multiple interpretations. They are dreamy and realistic, intimate yet ominously distant. Much like everyday scenery these images give a fresh impression with each new gaze.
