LEINE ART GALERIE

Leine Art Galerie
Leine Art is a contemporary art gallery located in the historic part of Hannover, which is the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. Our goal is to provide a platform for young creators from all over the world. By supporting rising artists and creating new and exciting opportunities for them, we break down the borders between countries and thus establish a truly international art environment.
For the Volta Basel 2021 we are presenting two of our artists. Polina Gazeeva is ayoung emerging artist born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and currently living in Berlin, Germany. Gazeeva creates expressive figurative paintings and drawings. Her works often depict distorted human bodies with mutilated or exaggerated body parts. Through her art Gazeeva tries to confront the inner, unconscious and spiritual part of herself. The parts that are hard to articulate through words or even access with conscious thought. Her semi- improvised painting process breaks away the expectations of presenting a specified truth. There is no one true subject or meaning to her works. They are ritualistic explorations of the deep depths of ourselves and as such can not be bound or understood using traditional and direct translations.
In her art Julia Ta delivers abstract and striking representations of simple emotionality. Her works are based on the play between colours and shapes. The unique technique, invented by Julia herself, allows her to work with volume, complex shapes and unusual textures. Thus she creates works of art that transition between painting and sculpture. In her work process she prominently features elements that have been discarded by others. Old fabrics, broken furniture and curiosities found in all kinds of strange places. As such she explores themes of rebirth and brings out the beauty in the old and forgotten. She rejuvenates that which has withered and grants it a new brighter future.
Due to their visual disparity Gazeeva’s and Ta’s works do not compete for attention, but combine into a coherent visual, thus jumping from complex to simple without losing breath.
