Since 2005, VOLTA contemporary art fair has boldly showcased groundbreaking artistic narratives from around the world. The 2024 edition, running from September 4 to 8, promises to be no different. Held in the heart of New York’s vibrant cultural district at Chelsea Industrial, VOLTA presents 50 galleries representing 18 countries. This year, the fair features artwork from current conflict zones, that spans six continents and offers art lovers and collectors a chance to connect with our collective cultural landscape.

Speaking to the curatorial themes of commonality, cultural dialogue and collaboration, VOLTA’s new Artistic Director, Lee Cavaliere has sought to break the traditional art fair model and become a beacon for emerging and marginalised artistic voices. This commitment is exemplified in the Ukrainian Pavilion, an initiative presented in association with Razom.

Featuring Dymchuk (Kyiv, Ukraine), The Naked Room (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Ya Gallery (Lviv, Ukraine) amongst others from the diaspora, the Pavilion provides a crucial access point for artists and galleries working in the current conflict zone with the art market capital.

VOLTA New York addresses a nation on the brink of change. It mirrors our world—marked by internationalism, the elevation of diverse voices to shape the future, whilst also supporting a local creative economy too. Our exhibitors embody these values. Under my new direction I want to challenge the mold of a traditional art fair to reimagine market access within this setting. We are thrilled to collaborate with our nonprofit partner Razom, who play a crucial role in our global narrative — highlighting contemporary art amidst conflict. VOLTA New York dares to present the new and unseen this September.
