Gallery “ARKA” was founded in 1990 and is centrally located in the old town of Vilnius. Gallery‘s working in the field of contemporary art and cultural projects, as well as organizing solo and group exhibitions. The aim of the gallery is to create a favorable microclimate for the expression of artists, catalyze their professional activity by bringing together recognized and young artists. Networking and internationalization are one of the three directions of the gallery strategy, which provides for participation in national and international networks, representation of gallery artists at international level, and promotion of cooperation with Lithuanian and international organizations. One of our main goals are to promote professional art, strenghten and develop international network, representing Lithuanian contemporary art in the context of nowadays European culture, conecting artists from the region and create contacts with the local and national culture scene. We aspire to questioning the contemporary art in the historical context, to develop exchange knowledge on sustainable materials and share with the wider public. Artists are increasingly working outside the framework of the established art world and are searching for a meaningful role within a social context. It is our second time in VOLTA Basel Family (already participated in 2022).
